Benefits Of Super Artemisinin
Super Artemisinin is a well-known herbal medicine that has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine since ages for its beneficial properties. It is widely used as an anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancerous, anti-parasitic, anti-fungal and anti-malarial product.
The property of Artemisinin to invade and destroy the cancer cells has been backed by numerous researches. Artemisinin basically contains peroxide group within its structure and conjugates with transferrin in blood which carries it to the cancer cells and is rapidly taken up. The peroxide group has the ability to react with iron present in tumor cells and form cytotoxic free radicals which induce oxygen stress in the tumor cells, thereby killing them. Sweet wormwood extracts can also inhibit the tumor growth by arresting the growth of cancer cells, by cutting off their blood and nutrition supply and by preventing metastasis, the mechanism by which healthy cells undergo cancerous transformation.
One of the major benefits of artemisinin is that it spares the healthy cells of the body in contrast to other drugs used to fight cancers. The reason for it is that cancer cells have higher iron concentration as compared to normal cells and also over-express the transferrin receptors that facilitates the uptake of artemisinin by the cancer cells.
It has the ability to cure many types of cancers including the melanoma, leukemia, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, renal cancer, CNS tumors and other cancer types. It is also known to increase the efficacy of drugs that are usually used in cancer chemotherapy.
It is a potent agent against a variety of viral infections including those caused by influenza type A virus, herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and Epstein-Barr virus(EBV), human cytomegalovirus (CMV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), Varicella zoster virus (VZV) and bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV). The anti-viral potential is mainly caused by inhibition of the replication of the virus by disintegration of host cell machinery that is vital for viral growth. It can also prevent the growth of viruses by hindering the protein and viral DNA synthesis, by inducing apoptosis (programmed cell death) and by disrupting the viral genome. It is used to treat viral infections like hepatitis, infectious mononucleosis, roseola infantum, encephalitis and shingles etc.
The extract of sweet wormwood is widely used as an anti-microbial agent. Especially notable is its property to destroy anaerobic bacteria and gonococci, bacilli, E. coli, Pseudomonas and enterococci. It is also known to enhance the anti-bacterial properties of common anti-bacterial drugs like beta lactamases. Mainly it attacks the bacterial cells by directly penetrating their cell membranes and kills them by generation of oxygen free radicals. Against H.pylori infections of the gut and other bacterial infections like bacterial dysentery and tuberculosis, it is highly beneficial. It is also used to retard the growth of bacteria in dental caries and other dental infections.
It is used to treat the fungal infection of the lung called as pneumocystis pneumonia that is frequent in AIDS patients due to low immunity. Especially known are its anti-fungal effects against the most common fungal pathogens Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus fumigatus, Alternaria solani, Rhizoctonia solani , Candida albicans, Cryptoccocus neoformans and Fusarium oxysporum. These effects are believed to be due to the presence of carbonyl groups in the structure of artemisinin that are toxic for the fungi. They cause destruction of fungal cell wall and inhibit the fungal growth. It is even more potent than the common antifungal drug amphotericin B.
The anti-inflammatory properties of Super Artemisinin are well-known. These anti-inflammatory effects of sweet wormwood extract comes from its ability to inhibit the inflammatory agents within the body including nitric oxide (NO), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and pro-inflammatory cytokines like IL-1β , IL-6, and IL-10 which are responsible for the signs and symptoms of inflammation.
It is due to these effects that it is used as a remedial measure for inflammatory conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and arthritis etc. Oral inflammatory conditions like gingivitis and periodontitis can also be prevented.
Super Artemisinin has been declared extremely effective for patients suffering from malaria. Trials have been carried out in over two million patients to establish its beneficial role. It has the ability to kill the organism Plasmodium falciparum that causes malaria. This is because of excessive accumulation of iron inside the Plasmodium infected red blood cells which attracts Artemisinin-transferrin conjugate. Also, Artemisinin causes the Plasmodium to undergo growth arrest and eventually undergo destruction.
It is even effective against those strains of the Plasmodium that have grown resistant to the typical treatment of Malaria with choloroquine and similar drugs. It is also beneficial for Plasmodium vivax induced malaria. It is now being commonly as a combination therapy with other anti-malarial drugs.
Super Artemisinin has remarkable anti-parasitic effects and is known for its activity against the blood flukes (schistosomes). It is a potent anthelmintic and has a wide spectrum of activity against a variety of parasites. It is being used as the primary treatment modality or as combination therapy for parasitic infections including Chagas disease, leishmaniasis, Toxoplasmosis and human African trypanosomiasis.
It is used to relieve pain (analgesic) in patients of rheumatism, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and dyspepsia.
It boosts the immune system of the body by acting as an anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal. It also regulates the functions of various immune mediators.
It is used to treat skin infestations like scabies and mites.
It is used to relieve the fever associated with various febrile conditions.
Its anti-oxidant properties make it an effective remedy to prevent free-radical induced conditions like diabetes, cataract, cardiovascular disorders,
The daily recommended amount of Super Artemisinin is two spoons containing 200 milligrams each, equaling 400 milligrams. Each spoonful contains 180 mg artemisinin and 20 mg of saponins.
CAUTIONS FOR USE
It is strictly contraindicated for pregnant or nursing women as its use during pregnancy (especially during 1st trimester) can lead to low birth weight, pre-term birth, pregnancy loss, congenital anomalies and delayed developmental milestones.
Long term administration (greater than 1 month) should be monitored by a healthcare practitioner and include liver enzymes and hemoglobin testing for possible liver damage.
In rare cases, artemisinin may cause idiosyncratic liver dysfunction owing to its toxic effects on liver. Discontinuing artemisinin therapy in patients suffering from malaria can differentiate the hepatotoxicity due to artemisinin from that caused by other ant-malarial drugs like amodiaquine, sulfamethoxazole and sulfadiazine/pyrimethamine.
It should be immediately discontinued in case any allergic reactions develop.
Common side effects of artemisinin include nausea, vomiting, dizziness and anorexia (loss of appetite and weight).
It should be avoided by patients on taking anti-diabetes and anti-epileptic medications.
